WoW WotLK Can Death Knights name their rune blades

Frostmourne. Aside from Arthas or Illidan, no other name evokes so many feelings of grief and tragedy within the World of Warcraft. And as we imagine, there are going to be plenty of other player out there asking: Will they be given the chance to name their future Death Knight's rune blade to enjoy a bit of the notoriety that follows?

This was the topic started over at the WoW forums by player Stokesey. We're actually wondering about this detail too, given that all of the game's NPC DKs carry a named runeblade.

As Stokesey further asked, will the rune blade be given some random name like the Warlock's demonic pets? Or, would players be allowed to create their own name, much like hunter pets? Bornakk dropped by with an update on Blizzard's plans:

We have no current plans to add this feature but we will wait and see what the future holds.

From the looks of it, the devs are putting this on the backburner. At the very least, they don't appear to be chucking the idea out the window - we'll see if anything new comes up regarding this topic.
